HTC have been tipped as one of the many manufacturers lined up to boost their current Smartphone line-up with the Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 update in early 2012. But now, reports have leaked online suggesting that HTC are lining up a new Smartphone without any capacitive buttons, specifically aimed at utilising the ICS operating system.

According to BGR, HTC will release the speculatively named HTC Ville, giving the device its debut at the Mobile World Congress next year. However, by that point you can expect the current ‘codename’ to have received a snappier, more appealing update, as with their previous releases.

According to the leak, the phone will feature 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display and be noticeably thinner than the iPhone 4S. Yet more leaks report that the device will be powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon Series 4 processor and feature an 8MP “backside-illuminated” camera with 1080p HD video recording support.

With Ice Cream Sandwich set to take on Apple’s much love iOS, this is likely to be the first in a series of new devices specifically aimed at incorporating the many new features of Android 4.0. Will this new offering from HTC be able to compete with the like of iPhone and the eagerly anticipated Nexus Prime? As always, we are eager to hear your views.
