flashing blackberry's to cricket walk through

sorry i went on hiatus for a while i recieved a few messages from people asking how to get the blackberrys over to cricket. ok first an for most you will have to download a few things.

1.QPST (allows you to swap prl to a cricket prl)
    2. Blackberry Desktop Manager 5.0 (not 6.0 or higher or it gets complicated to to access what is needed to be accessed)
    3.Nationwide Cricket PRL
    4. Cricket Branded Blackberry service books( works on curve perfectly an should be same for all others)

1st you will need to plug your blackberry to your pc if you've downloaded the desktop manager and qpst here is what you will do it should bring up desktop manager if not click on it bring it up. it should ask if you would like to enter mass storage mode enter yes.(IF IT ASK U TO UPDATE CLICK NO!) it will begin to connect to computer after connected minimize the desktop manager. ok here is the infamous part. u gotta find the port the phones on.

click control panel. then system. then the hardware tab. now select device manager.
from there now scroll down to com ports. find the blackberry. usually 2 entrys for rim blackberry. right click the higher of the two. then click properties. then the select the port settings tab then go down to the button that says advanced. it will have a number at the bottom. click that an set it to com 1. click ok an what not till you are back to the com port screen again an select the second one an repeat process an set it as com 2.

2nd now go to QPSTan select system programming (if the phone doesnt show go to qpst config an search it an add it to the list). in system programming it will show as surf something or what not. select it an it will bring a new screen up when it ask for the service code it will be six 0's which is default on qpst so just select ok. click read phone. then go to the tab that says roam. from there you will then go to where it says prefered roaming an click where it says file. select the prl you wish to use. after u select it click write to phone. it will reboot the phone. after its back up close out qpst

3rd now the fun stuff. after phone reboots go to options, advanced options, service book Hold alt key and type S B E B (on storm or other touch screen blackberrys flip to landscape mode then select options an select show keyboard.. hold alt till its locked in place an press 4?2?) Should say in went into legacy restore mode. now plug it up run the desktop manager. after it loads up an connects to phone (REMEMBER DO NOT UPDATE) select restore an backup
. in the next page select advanced. it will bring up a page where it will populate the right column with files. scroll down to service books. click it do nothing else.

!4th! now in the left column click file an find your service books it will be an .ipd file. select it. it will now be in the left column . select it an click the right arrows to move it to the phone(right column.) after its completed safely exit all the desktop manager screens unplug phone from pc. shut off phone an start it back up. WALA!! you have flashed a black berry to cricket. if in need of the cricket branded service books an the newer nationwide prl message me

    hello
since you seem to have the down low on blackberrys i need some help. i live in colorado and when i traveled to las vegas last month my flashed cricket bb did not work. it said i needed to add flex account even though i already had some. this happened to me in May when I was in Portland. I was unable to send and receive anything. i called cricket support tonight and all they could tell me is that service is good in both areas and that i should try to turn my roaming on. any suggestions. i am traveling to oregon again this weekend and need my phone to work.

    thanks for any input

Hello. Thank you for posting this guide. I reviewed this guide and similar tutorials before executing, however QPST returns an error for the wrong service code when I make an attempt. What do you suppose is the problem? Also, could you send me the newest nationwide .prl file and Cricket-branded service books that you have?

Attached is the .prl file I used. I don't know if it is good. Where are these files obtained from originally? Do you know how they can be made?

I am attempting to flash a BlackBerry 9670.
