Cricket Sanyo Zio M600 review by CNET

The good: The Sanyo Zio has a user-friendly design and agreeable call quality. Its functional feature set includes a File Browser app.

The bad: The Sanyo Zio runs Android OS 1.6. Speakerphone calls and music quality over the external speakers was shrill.

The bottom line: The Sanyo Zio isn't the fanciest Android phone, but it's an ideal beginner smartphone for Cricket customers. It's easy to use and its feature set offers the essentials, though we don't like that it runs Android OS 1.6.

Another Cricket Sanyo Zio review. This one from phoneblog.com.

The biggest dealbreaker here will be the OS. It's only running Android 1.6, which means you miss out on a lot of the good things that have happened to the platform since then. With that said, it runs the OS satisfactorily, allowing you to navigate and run apps without much delay. Just as well, it supports plenty of apps from the Android Market (as well as Cricket and Sanyo's portals), allowing you to extend your phone's functionality in a big way.

It appears Sprint will also be offering a version of the Zio.

Sprint is probably positioned to soon start selling the Kyocera Zio after dummy units for the handset with Sprint's branding began to make their appearance throughout RadioShack stores nationwide. This follows after Cricket Wireless began to offer the Android powered device a little more than a month ago with a no-contract price of $249.99.

Since Sprint will be offering a discount on the handset with a 2-year contract, it'll be interesting to see what price point we'll end up seeing it flaunt. Although the Kyocera Zio for Cricket packs Android 1.6, this one for Sprint is rumored to hold Android 2.1 when it begins to hit store shelves. Some of the features of the Zio include a 3.5” WVGA touchscreen, a 600MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor, 3.2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.
