Thumbs up Portland Oregon Cricket Issues

    Hello All!

As many of you may know Portland was added to the Cricket family Last month, and the concept of a non contract unlimited services is a dream. But I'm running into issues, and the tech support services isn't the most responsive. These are some of the issues I'm having.

Phone UTStarCom 7025 $70.00 cheap phone
(I think almost everyone in Portland got this phone when they got cricket!)

    1. When I'm on a call and I text message at the same time the call drops (8 out of 10 times)

    2. I would get a error message with PDX ... (Portland) when I dialed a 3 digit number 611, 411 even 911 failed. (very serious)

    3. Used cricket phones are very hard to find, They trickle in on the Portland craigslist, and selection on eBay isn't that great either.

OK if you can help that would be great. I'm also looking for more information about reprogramming Verizon phones, cricket flashing files, And anything else that I could use.

    Thank you for your time

You text while you're on a call? How often do you do this? i mean, you literally take your phone away from your ear with someone on the line to text? Sorry, that just seems a little odd to me. I do know that you use airtime(open connection to the network) to send texts. I honestly don't think it was intended to work at the same time.

I do use a hands free kit so the phone is never to my ear. Also most phones do have speakerphone Now a days so I'm sorry that sounds unusual to you. I multitask And Its not uncommon to send and receive messages while I'm on a live call. The only reason I got the cheap phone was that I was skeptical about the service, What really got me upset was when they told me about the 30/30 (30 days /30 minutes of phone usage!) policy AFTER I ACTVATED THE PHONE! Or I would have got a more expensive phone. I really want the High end $300.00 Nokia since I'm use to Symbian Os Nokia Phones like the nokia 3650 or the 6600 (even though the cricket model does not have the symbian os built in.

But back to the issue, On Gsm networks I could do it, Even on Virgin mobile With weaker phones I could do it. SO I don't understand why cricket cant handle it or maybe it is that they are working out the network kinks, they have been in Portland for just over a month.

    Much Respect

    I have to say...

I gotta tell you, I have to wonder why you aren't just using a smartphone or pda of some sort. I mean you are expecting an awful lot from a standard mobile phone. If you want to be able to do all those different things get a SP or PDA. I work for a Cricket dealer, and for my own company but I use a smartphone (Samsung Blackjack) because it does what I need it too. I have a Motorola SLVR too which I just use to make calls on. Just needed to tell you this thought.

    Pretty good point but :

    1. My Text Messaging and voice calls should not be considered a upgrade to a smart phone. I'm a tech man also and I have had palm and pocket PC based pad's in the past, I also have had smart phones like the t-mobile sda, and even the kyocera 6035 palm phone.

Why do we live in the world of excess, I should not need a $300.00+ device(even though I want one) to text message and send calls. Would it make me more productive? Yes.

But its not a option at this time.

i have a slider remix and i talk and text at the same time quite often. i used to be able to do it on my audiovox as well. i would go into a full service cricket store and talk to them if i was you. maybe your line is a little screwy. either that, or it is your phone specifically. i'm sorry i can't be of more help, but i've never experienced this problem myself.

yes. u can return your phone and get your money back if u have had it for under 30 days, or have used it less than 30 minutes. it sucks though, because most have probably used our phones more than 30 minutes on the first call. lol
