    Jump Mobile

Has anyone used this prepaid service yet? It's offered by Cricket but I don't know if you can use a Cricket phone or if you have to buy a special phone just for Jump.

I have not used it. It is most likely possible to use any Cricket phone, but if they let you do it is another story. The phones offered probably have a software revision for prepaid service added. I was able to send myself a text msg from the Jump site and it is still Cricket's network, Leap just separated it to market it to a more specific age group.

Excellent news! I was curious if that would work or not.

However, it looks like their rates are this:
    1. $15: unused portion expires in 15 days
    2. $25: unused portion expires in 25 days
    3. $35: unused portion expires in 70 days
    4. $50: unused portion expires in 100 days
I am sure you have to keep minutes on the phone to keep it active so I am not sure it makes much sense to spend $25-$35 a month. I guess I don't see the advantage over regular cricket service.

i guess that the advantage is more for parents who want to be able to get ahold of their kids(while gettin unlimited incoming calls and text messanging) for only $35 every 70 days! that sounds pretty good dont u thinks so? lol its also pretty good if u just need a phone to get calls at too* its probably the best prepaid deal out there! unlimited picture and text messages as well as unlimited incoming calls and u can still use the cricket clicks service and travel time.

It's not to bad for about $20 a month I suppose if you use that plan. The first two don't make any sense at all to me. I imagine, like other prepaid plans, that if you don't keep it active you lose your number?

I use Jump currently. I am still in my first 70 days of my account but I love the service so far. It's so cool to have unlimited incoming.

I think you can activate most any "Cricket" phone. Personally I have activated an old Kyocera Energi phone.

YOu really need to base it on how much you will be using the phone. I saw someone say they don't see it worth spending $35.00 a month over getting a traditional Cricket.

If that's what you are spending in a month, then I would say you are better off getting Cricket. It's the same service and you might find that it's going to be cheaper in the long run. However for the $35.00 a month you don't get long distance. You do with Jump.

I have been with jump for a little bit now. I've got 35 days left and still have 24.50 on my account. I started with $35.00 and 70 days. Not bad for me but I use my Jump mobile account for my Ameriplan business. more incoming than outgoing.

It sounds like a pretty decent deal. I suppose you just have to remember to renew or you would lose your number, right?

well yes you do, however they give you a little leway. You have 60 days fromt he time your funds run out or expire before you loose your number, however your phone will not at all unless you have funds on the account.
