Verizon to Cricket

Hello all. I currently have a Blackberry Curve 8330 with Verizon. I'm thinking about switching to Cricket mainly because I'm tired of paying over $100 per month for cell phone service. I'm looking at the Samsung Messenger II. I'd like to know if anybody here has switched from Verizon and if you were happy making that choice?. Also does Cricket mobile email work the same as it does with Verizon with that "push technology" where your email is immediately sent to your phone from gmail, yahoo, etc. Do you still have good coverage when you travel outside of your home coverage area? Your feedback is appreciated.
