I am having the exact same problem... no insurance on phone, I read on Kyocera's site that the manufacturers warranty is 1 year, I guess maybe I can get this phone replaced by them... going to the Cricket store tomorrow and see what they say.

If anyone has ANY suggestions, as in how to repair it myself (have done similar things) or what parts would be needed, etc... please say so!

Just to let anyone interested know, I called Kyocera (didnt even talk to cricket yet) and they said that it is a software problem and that they would repair the phone. They gave me a number and I went to mcsci.com and filled out a form and printed a packing slip. I am going to ship the phone tomorrow. Be aware, that you need a copy of the recepit but the guy on the phone said cricket should be able to provide proof of purchase for warranty dates (I have to send that in, too).

All in all the experience has not been very time consuming or difficult so far, filling out the factory form online was very nice (that they even have online forms, i mean)

I'll keep you updated if i remember to

if you would of went to the corp store, they would of made you pay $45 upfront, give you a new phone right there, ship off your phone to the manufacturer, and if indeed it was a software problem covered by the manufacture warranty, Cricket would then reimburse you 35, therefore only costing you $10 for shipping and handling. and you wouldn't be without a phone for the next 3-7 business days. o well.

did you go to the cricket store? did the say no? if so, if you think the corp store is picky, good luck sending it to the manufacture and having them approve it... and if you didn't go in to the store.. i hope you didn't try to repair it yourself, or open the phone up, or have major scratches or anything broken on it..or unscrewed anything...because then you just wasted all your time sending it in to the manufacture; straight up voided your warranty.

on a side note: in an effort to save yourself 5 bucks a month by not geting insurance.. and if the manufacture warranty isnt honored of course, you just cost yourself minimally 120 bucks to get the lowest cost low end phone

let us know what happens i guess and gl2u

*** PS I am not a mod, but perhaps next time you should start your own thread on your own experiences .. just so it doesn't get any MORE congested in here the it already is..

I'm just gonna go out on a limb here and guess that it was the kyocera 132? either that or the Xcursion.. thats the only other crash I've seen first person. well if it was the 132 it should just be replaced under warranty which is a year, for like.. i wanna say somewhere between 45-60 bucks? yea... but i heard that a bunch of the 132's were pms'ing or something like that and needed to be taken back earlier this year.

Just spend a little extra money and purchase something other than a Kycera, you'll be glad you did. ;-)

Kyocera is one of the worst companies you can buy. No offense Kyocera. The Crash dump usually happens on UT STARCOMSS and the crowd lovable k132 when you do more than two thigns at once
